Purpose By Jade Patterson-Grimes
Did you know that your value begins with the fact that you are made by the hand of the Creator in His very image? Everyone was created for a specific purpose!
Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plan I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Everyone and everything has a purpose. He designed us to do specific things. I examined the word purpose, and is defined as- the reason for which something is done, created or exists. I get excited at just the thought that God took so much time out to make someone like you; from your looks all the way to your personality! He knew who you were before leaving your mother's womb. He knew what you were going to look like; he knew where you were going to be today. He created us to be who He wants us to be so that we can help someone else be who He wants them to be.
Sometimes I think of myself as a happy slave for Jesus Christ. I wanted to know His plan for me and to be used by Him. I’m sure I am not the only one who was always talking to God, asking Him if this will be something to help someone else? I had to stop asking God that question because everything He was doing in my life was to help someone else. I finally understood that.
But if you really understood what God is doing, will you go against His plan even if it’s not a part of your plan? Are you being submissive or disobedient? Who are we to go against God’s plan?
My mother used to always say, if you know better you will do better. But as Christians do we really know our purpose? Do you really believe God has a purpose for us? If you believe God designed us for a divine purpose, would you do better? Some of us will not embrace who we are. We rather focus on the things that we are not. I was reading this book and it repeatedly said “if you don't know the purpose of something you can always misuse it.” I laughed every time I read it because it is true. Think about a toddler trying to eat a steak with just a spoon- they will have the hardest time because its purpose is to scoop the food not cut it. They don't understand that what is before them requires a different method. But an adult knows we need a knife instead of a spoon. Again, if you know better you will do better.
God has a plan for everyone, seek and find your purpose. You could be misusing it or not using it at all. People are out here that need you!
