Today is the day of instant gratification. We take many things for granted in our lives without simply saying, thank you. We are surrounded by all these blessings, all these relationships, all these provisions, all this goodness and endless opportunities!! If you don’t know how to turn blessings into praise, it will lead to a prideful heart. Prideful hearts lead to a life that will never be filled with joy because your heart will have holes in it.
The same with our God given gifts. If we don’t grow in gratitude what have you gained? If God gives it but you don’t know what to do with it, it won’t make you happy. If God gave you the EXACT thing you were asking for at this moment, would you unwrap it and appreciate it or be happy for a short while and move on.
Happy people are not the ones who have the best of everything, but those who make the best of everything. We must practice thanksgiving. Giving thanks is not natural, it is a chosen act. Gratitude without practice is like faith without works-DEAD. So we must incorporate grateful habits into our lives. Saying positive things, being thankful for what we have and don’t have.
God gives us seven days a week, 24 hours per day, and He DESERVES a thank you. Be thankful for whatever you can think of. Answered prayers, money to pay bills, the sunshine, etc., because our God is gracious. Actually more gracious than the utility company, because Alabama Power ensures we appreciate them. If you fail to appreciate them, they’ll stop providing power.
So as we enter into Thanksgiving, don’t forget to give praise. As you walk in blessings that you used to be your prayer request, Give praise!
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 16Rejoice always, 17pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
