Thanksgiving By Regina Postell Manuel

PSALM 100: 1-5   1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.  2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Reflecting on recent events in the United States, the State of Alabama, the City of Montgomery and looking at our current situation, we have so very much to be grateful for, more things than we can even fathom.  We have so much that sometimes we can’t see the great worth of all God has given us.

God is so worthy of praise, we need to be enthused (possessed by God) and filled with excitement just for who He is. (Read Psalm 100:2)

God is so worthy of service, we need to serve the Lord with humility, fidelity, and activity. Therefore, do not serve God out of greed, grudge, and grind.  We must serve God with joyfulness and gladness. (Reflect on Psalm 100:3)

God alone is God, we must place God first in every area of our lives.  God alone is the very source of ALL our blessings. He will lead, provide, guide, comfort, protect, and prosper us. (Read Psalm 100:4)

God is worthy of our praise, we need to truly understand who God is and what He has done for us.  We must profess, acknowledge, accredit, and confess with our words and deeds that God alone is the source of all true happiness and blessings in life. (Remembering why?- Psalm 100:5)

God is good, we need to gain and keep a heart of thankfulness.  Therefore, live with mindfulness, take inventory and count your many blessing and name them one by one, and take action to turn your attitude of thankfulness into an action of appreciation.

THOUGHT:  Do not allow your giving in death to surpass your giving while living.
