Ephesians 4:15 says “Instead we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
Growth is the process of increasing or maturing whether it be physical, mental or spiritual. Spiritual growth is the process of becoming more and more like Jesus. 2 Peter 1:3-8, tells us that we are given everything we need to live a Devine and Godly life. Spiritual growth can be identified by the fruits of the spirit becoming evident in the life of a believer. As we grow in Christ, those things that would easily beset us, will no longer bother us because we now have temperance. Your tolerance level begin to increase, while your way of loving becomes more unconditional. You become less judgmental and controversial but instead become a peacemaker. As we can see growth brings about a change, your Faith becomes stronger and unwavering instead of doubting God you know to trust his will in every aspect of your life. All these things are evident because of our knowledge and wisdom that came about with accepting Christ (Romans 6-7).
Spiritual Growth is a life long process that is nurtured by our studying and applying God's word to our lives. Your life will begin to require more than those things such as drinking, clubbing, fighting, cursing, fornication and gossiping; that were once part of your identity. Since your identity has changed, your spirit man no longer require those things. Sometimes you may even lose friends and family or the desire to be around certain individuals during this process; but it is okay because God will surround you with like minded people who will become your friends and love you just as much as family.
This past July, I found myself in a weird place with my own family during our reunion. After the first day, I dreaded going to every event that was planned. I couldn't understand what was going on because I knew I loved them but at this point I just didn't want to be around them. So, I cried and questioned myself trying to figure out what was going on. I texted a couple of people and asked them can you out grow your family and still love them? The answer I got back was yes, because I was in a different place than them; that I had grown or matured spiritually! It was a good thing but, makes you feel bad because it's pertaining to your family. Now that I had clarity, I asked God to help me to embrace this without coming off wrong. So, spiritual growth can make you feel uneasy but it is necessary. Continue to proceed forward in Christ so you can be used by him. Let his spirit guide and keep you throughout your growing process.
Have a blessed week everyone!!!!
