Proverbs 25:28: Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control
Self-control is the ability to control oneself, in particular, one’s emotions and desires, or the expression of them in one’s behavior-especially in difficult situations. It is an important part of maturity. For example, a newborn baby has lack of self-control. Not only do babies need diapers, they must be carried because they lack the necessary control of their muscle coordination to sit up, walk, run and to feed themselves. When they eat, the baby does not have the self-control to not to poo in their diapers. The diaper has to be changed by the parent. Some of us as Christian are just like babies, we poo (lack of control) in our diapers when things don't go our way. (Some of us need to check our diapers now)! In time, the baby will develop more and more self-control- which is a sign of growth and maturity.
We should be like babies, when they enter in the world they are helpless and do not have self-control. They have entered into a new world they have no knowledge about. As Christians, when we come into the knowledge of Jesus Christ, it's new until we begin studying the Word of God and begin to develop the characteristics of Christ as we try to do better.
Proverbs 25:28 tells us that a wall acted as the cities defense bringing security, an inner peace and displaying an outer strength. A city without walls is defenseless and will be defeated. A person who lacks self-control is open to defeat and destruction by the enemy. Self-control is essential if we are to defend ourselves against the enemy. Do not allow the enemy to tear down your wall because the lack of self-control.
Your superpower is self-control
