Did you know that being submissive is simply saying- will you humble yourself. Most of the time we allow pride to get in the way. Paul tells the husband to love his wife(Eph. 5:25), while Peter tells the him to dwell together with his wife (I Pet. 3:7). We can’t live with our wives as Peter states unless we love her the way Paul means. The love that we have been commanded to have for our wives is not primarily sexual or emotional even though they play a significant role. It is a love that loves in spite of the response in the one loved. It is the kind of of love that God has for the world(John 3:16). A husband can only love his wife the right way is by loving her as Christ loves the church. Ask yourself do you need her or do you want her? Most of you would probably say you need her. I’ve realized that need her is good but wanting her his better. Why do you say that? I’m glad you asked. When you need something you only wanted it for that moment, but when you want something you do everything in your power to get it. Wanting each day in and day out keeps the fire burning. In my closing, always remember to put God first.
