Temperance and Self-Control By Eemetric Postell

Temperance meaning: moderation in action, thought or feeling ,restraint. "Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand." Phil-4:5

We should not be into everything, we should not be into everybody's business. We have an appointed assignment and appointed people we should have our hands on. To much of anything is not good for anyone. That is why we are united as one but to do different jobs. A busy body is not pleasing to God when He does not assign it to you. It is good to know who you are and who you belong to. Now it is time to know who your assignment is because we are human in spite of who we are made up of (spirit man). We have to be cautious of our thoughts. The very thing we put in our mind , we could become. It is good to seek Christ and His mind and His thoughts. We cannot become up tight and forget that we are free. So even when we laugh- we are still doing things in temperance or moderation. When we do things above the moderate level we can get our feelings caught up.  Therefore we should stay in the designated areas of our lives.

Self-Control meaning: the ability to control oneself. " Abstain from every form of evil."  1 Thes. 5:22

Temperance and Self -Control goes hand and hand to a certain point. Temperance is towards others and self-control is just that- self control. Temperance is giving a little rope to roam but self control is a tight rein. Temperance may cause us to flare out at some one when self-control says: NO BE MINDFUL!  In self control we have to be aware of what we do because we are being watched by someone and they are not a judge. Do not get me wrong and mistake it by saying we are people pleasers,  but we are models and ambassadors of Christ.
In my closing, these are both needed so in temperance keep your restraints from indulging into mush or other's affairs. And keep self in line by using that SELF-CONTROL- not others control. Evil is ever present so lets make it less present by abstaining from it. If it is a secret or does not feel good....it is not of God. Know these two words have a similar contrast also. They are the fruit of the spirit which is the last one. They made the top 10, it in number nine, the last one.  So in all our doing know that temperance and self-control is a great pair as well. They work hand and hand.
Have a blessed week and  control your (our) temptation and restrain from evil much as possible!
