I'm sure every parent has stated, "I will do anything to protect my child. No matter old they are because that is my child." Don't we think God has said the same thing about each of us? We are His children-no matter how far we might have strayed away. For example, if your child has a friend that has no good intentions for them, wouldn't you do everything in your power to protect them from getting hurt? That is what God is trying to do for us, PROTECT us from this cruel world that we live in. Instead, we go looking for trouble, then we want God to protect us from the pain.
The job we might "think" is for us, might not be for us. The boss may talk to their employees in a demeaning manner, but we want the job because it pays $13.50 an hour. God can place an significantly better job in front of us, but we don't take it because it only pays $10.50 an hour. Maybe, we even want to befriend a person that buys us nice things. Why? God is protecting us from the consequences or results of having to "pay" them back.
Matthew 4:39 states, "Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm." In this scripture think of your life as this rushing wind and sea. In reality, that's the storm that we are facing on a daily basis, such as, angry, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and etc. Every corner we turn another storm comes rushing our way on top of everything we are currently facing. Yet, through every storm God comes right in and calm us by simply stating "Peace, be still." Regardless of what we face on a daily basis, He is still our peace. Instead of jumping head first in the storm, let Him protect us from the rushing winds and the hard waves.

Ask yourself, "Will I accept God's protection?"
