The Job By Ryan Dean

When we are called by God to do a specific task, He wants the best and nothing but the best. There are different jobs in the church; such as preaching, singing, ministering, etc. We look at these big significant jobs as if they are the ONLY jobs that are available because these people are actually seen in the church. Even though these people are seen, does not mean these are the only jobs available and certainly does not mean since you preach or sing that you can't have other jobs.

When it comes to the House of the Lord, there are many jobs that come to mind, but I will just hit one today. This job is not considered an actual physical job but a spiritual job.  For instance, when we need to clean the church on Saturdays, what is wrong to go and lend a helping hand?  See what we actually miss sometimes in our actual church jobs is the JOB within the job.  There is nothing wrong with cleaning up and talking about your problems with someone...asking how they are doing.  The well-being of your church members, your brothers, your sisters, is that of importance.  Some of the best times I experienced help occurred while I did handy work on music instruments or fixed a drum; I still do these things today.  Some individuals just need to talk, and look anywhere just to be heard.

Are we doing all we can to keep our members of the church?  Don't lose that fire when we get the members and just let them pass on by after the first two months.  Just as a team's new player comes and go in a season; the things that keeps a player from moving on are the teammates. Chemistry built between teammates goes as deep as family love.  What are we doing for our teammates?  Yes the coach (Pastor) recruited and will show them attention, but what are we doing as a team (members)?  Are we causing chaos like the Chicago Bulls are today, or are we defeating teams with ease and playing great team ball as the Spurs are doing?  What I want to work on is just being a better teammate.

I am not saying we are doing a bad job, but we can do better!   Let's focus on the job as a church member----recruiting others, but in the midst, keep our own lifted up.

Ask yourself these questions, "what type of job am I really doing" and  "what type of teammate am I"?
